Advertisement and cost of the product are one of the first things I look at when selecting a box of cereal. While walking down the cereal aisle at Stater Bothers I noticed that the Kellogg’s frosted mini wheat’s and Stater Brother’s version called bite size frosted shredded wheat were located on the third shelf from the top and were placed next to each other. An eighteen-ounce box of Kellogg’s cereal was priced at $3.99, which was equivalent to $0.22 per ounce of cereal. The box was a light orange color with the words “Excellent source of fiber & made from 100% whole grain” written across the top of the cereal box on a green banner. On the left bottom corner there was a picture of a large white bowl of mini wheat’s and across the bowl there was a yellow banner with the words, “Original lightly sweetened whole grain cereal.” On the other hand the Stater Brother’s version was priced at $2.99 for an eighteen-ounce box, which was equivalent to $0.16 per once of cereal. The box was a dark orange color with the words, “ Bite size frosted shredded wheat” written across the middle of the box. On the left bottom corner there was also a large white bowl of bite size cereal with three red raspberries and a blue banner with the words, “Sweetened whole grain cereal an excellent source of fiber.” Both of the cereal boxes were constructed of one hundred percent recycled…
