Environmental Science
Extra credit assignment From the beginning of the start, I do not like to study chemistry and it since secondary school until I take the environmental science in college this is due to there a lot of chemical name need to remember. However, I change my mind when I having class to environmental science, I found that it actually quite interesting and almost all the information of this subject are link to our living life. After I have taken this subject I do understand or contribute to the environmental compared with previously. Besides, everyone should think before they do anything that hurt the environment considerably evens a little action. Therefore, I did carpool when I have the same destination with my friends or family. This is because, all the transport we use such as motorcycles, cars, buses, and so on will release the greenhouse gases (nitrous oxide) that can lead to global warming. Besides, carpool can save the energy sources of petroleum and money. For instance, if we drive the car individually then we have to pay more money for using more petroleum and there are more petroleum had been used and reduced. In contrast, if we carpool then we can share the money of the petroleum and the amount of petroleum on the earth would not finish so fast. Moreover, I often open air conditioner before I take this subject. I am a people who body’s temperature very high. Thus, I always feel hot but I do not wonder why I would be like this. It is just like my body will release some heat especially while I am sleeping. So, I opened air conditioner while I am home. However, I reduced the times I open the air conditioner because from this subject I wonder that it will release Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Man–made CFCs are the main cause of ozone depletion in the stratosphere and it will cause the development of skin cancer since ozone concentration of stratosphere reduced. Hence, I try to not open air conditioner and use fan to substitute. On the whole, I learned a

You are a general contractor wishing to put up a modest sized cement production plant on the outskirts of town. The plant would operate on only one 10-hour shift per day and would produce about 400 cubic yards of output per day for six days per week. It is necessary for an environmental impact study to be undertaken before the county can issue a permit. The biggest issue is, of course, the air quality implications of cement production, but potential impacts on water quality are of concern as well. It is now October, and you want to start building the plant by the end of next summer, if at all possible. It is now time to issue an RFP to procure an environmental impact analysis. Studies of this type normally require about three months of concerted effort by a team of analysts…

To begin, one of the most common causes of pollution is from motor vehicles. Most people drive their cars to wherever it is that they need to be. Every time someone drives their car, they are putting pollution into the air and damaging the planet. There are a few ways to reduce the amount of pollution you put in the air and one of those ways is carpooling. This is definitely the most effective way because by carpooling, there is one less car that is putting out pollution and which adds up over time. According to statisticbrain.com there are 85 million gallons of gas saved yearly by carpooling. The only problem is that only 10% of Americans carpool which is not a very good percentage and it needs to grow. In additions, another way to prevent pollution is walking or biking to destinations that aren’t too far away. This way, there is no pollution being put in the air at all which is not only good for the planet but it’s also good for exercise. People pollute the air every day but the amount can easily be reduced.…

I'm passionate about science, specifically the science that revolves around how our planet works. I live in an area that is a geological hot spot, I’m only miles away from Crater Lake and I live near the Cascadia Subduction Zone. I began to learn that earthquakes and natural disasters were a phenomenon that I wanted to learn more about. So I challenged myself by taking 4 and half years worth of science credits. My junior year I took Chemistry and Physics, and my senior year I continued building credit by taking AP Environmental Science. Each year I strived to earn good grades so that I could have an opportunity to continue my education. I want to earn a bachelor's degree in Earth Science and continue on to an advanced degree. I was able to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at Calvary Lutheran Parish House in Dover, PA on a Sunday afternoon. The location was easy to find and close to my house. When I arrived, I noticed a group of people smoking near the building and walked over to them and inquired about if I had the right location of the meeting. A gentleman told me to go down the stairs and then I would be in the room that the meeting took place. I walked over to the steps and had to duck my head to keep from hitting my head while walking down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs there was a small room with rows of chairs and a few chairs around the outside of the rows of chairs.…
