The regulations for payments are not based on the gender of the athlete. The bonuses paid to the athletes are based on the revenue the federation makes for the Male national team and on the other side the female national team. Since the first regulation was passed over 50 years ago, why do you think this is still an issue?
Though the USWNT has shown their success in the recent years, I belief that they do not have major sponsors like their counterparts. These sponsors bring in a lot of money which can be distributed to the team. It is my belief that the women just started proving themselves of their worth in the recent years by winning major tournaments. This has probably brought some major deals to the women team regarding their sponsoring. Due to the acquiring of major deals I belief that, the gap between the USWNT wages and their counterparts will shrink in the next years.
3. Do you agree with the women's complaint about equal pay? Would you support them? Why or Why not?
In my opinion, this unequal pay is unfair for the soccer team. Karli Lloyd states in the interview that the women team has done a lot for soccer in America. They have won the world cup as well as several Olympic soccer tournaments while the US men team have no major trophy to show. It feels as the men national team get paid for just presenting themselves on the pitch. This should not be the case and thus I support the action that they have
