The gathering consisted of 200,000 blacks also including whites whom decided to take action as well. This all took place on August 28, 1963 in front of the Washington Memorial located in Washington D.C.. This is where Martin Luther King Jr’s speech “I Have a Dream” took place. This speech was made to speak against those whom believed black men should never and would never be granted the rights every other American had; it pointed out what America promised the nation would be which was “land of the free and home of the brave”.
