The “Era of Good Feelings” was an expansion of the economy, creation of new states, the growth of white settlement and trade in the west and more importantly the rise of nationalism in the united states following the war of 1812. Although, the republicans hoped for a simple agrarian society growth continued throughout the nineteenth century. A common issue created by The War of 1812 was chaos in shipping and banking (Brinkley ,215). By cutting off imports growth of manufacturing was stimulated. New factories were able to start operation that assured quick profits. For instance, the American textile industry which had a dramatic growth from 1807-1815 (Brinkley, 216).
