Bryan Widner is one of the many people who made a bad decision. He was a part of a Nazi Skinhead organization where killing a human for no reason was rewarding. When people would be randomly walking down a sidewalk somewhere enjoying their night they would see him and his group and immediately hesitate or maybe even run for their lives because they know they could be in danger. Everything about Bryan was bad. Tattoos embracing his organization were plainly seen on his neck, face, head, and arms for everyone to see. The tattoos weren’t there to just be there. They were warnings and proof that he was a killer and a pitbull for what he and his friends believed in. Watching the documentary at first would show how bad Bryan used to be until he decided to find a way out.
No one is perfect in today’s society and who is to say there are good people out there? Everyone can feed the hunger or walk an elder across the road but who’s to say they were always a good person? Everyone has had a moment in their laugh when they were just evil to everyone. They might had made that one bad decision and suffered and came to reality afterwards and turn into someone they want to be for themselves or their family. Watching Erasing Hate I seen Bryan transforms into one of those people who wanted to have a change and was willing to go through or do whatever to get it.

Why do people hate each other? Why do some people think they are better than others? Because they are from different places, look different, have different religion, philosophy or because the hate is passed and taught from one generation to another based off historic events that people can’t forget. None of this justifies the killing of human lives. Hate is the most poisonous conflict of our time. First of, we have the White Supremacist Movement in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, and South Africa. Second, are the Christian Fundamentalism as an anti-gay platform in The Unite States discriminating against homo-sexual. Third, are the Muslim Extremists in the Middle East since the late 19th century, Israeli Settlers and Soldiers, and US Forces in Iraq (this century). These conflicts had been led by people with closed minds, not willing to use dialogue as assertive communication, and see the world in a confrontational style to win at expenses of others.…

In life everyone makes bad decisions sometimes big or small but people will always remember and judge by that one mistake. For example, in high school I snuck out and took my moms car without her permission and ended up totaling it. For many years, my mother would hold that against me and did not trust me. Even though she forgave me, to this day she brings up something that happened years ago. I learned that the mistakes one makes will eventually hurt the people we love and will be unforgettable. The same way Charlie a character from, Babylon Revisited, was an alcoholic that had a crazy relationship with his wife and after her death, he drank more heavily and ended up losing everything including his daughter due to the mistakes he made. After…

The documentary remarks on the origins of race and how it has affected history and its people. There has been a history of intolerance in America against the “them”, the others. “Them”, being the different, the unknown. It is clear that people are afraid of the unknown because of the uncertainty it brings thus they immediately label anything different as “them”. The ultimate concept I was able to derive from the documentary was that race is an idea created by society to further certain people; whether it be on a political, social, or economical aspect. The Shadow of Hate accounts the troubling relic embedded in our country, which is the overwhelming prejudice that has occurred in America for centuries. Quakers, Native Americans, and the Japanese-Americans are a few groups that have been significantly affected by whites’ obsession and preoccupation to remain “superior” to the rest, the “them”. The documentary even brings forth current tensions that cause rifts between our cities and communities.…

In the quote by Martin Luther King about how hate cannot drive out hate, only love can, is the same concept with, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai’s speech to the UN. Her speech expresses her thoughts and drive about education and women's rights. First, a quote from Malala’s speech which is similar to Mr. King’s quote. “We realize the importance of light when we see darkness,” defends King’s quote because she is saying we see the goodness/love in the world when hate is shown. Love does drive out hate. Next, a quote from an unknown author. “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations,” provides a sense of positivity for an end result. However, the judgment of regret is a person’s way of reflecting one’s actions and regret is the first step in the conditions that determine his future conduct. It is commendable and justified and this “judgment of regret” paves the way for a moral direction of action for the future, not because one realizes that the past could have happened in a different way. The recognition of a wrongdoing is an innate response to what we have done. It is not a form of punishment we inflict upon ourselves. It is only through regret or remorse that we learn to make amends.…

-Many say the way someone is raised determines their future outcome. Yes, many events may scar a child yet he/she has the choice to forever hold a grudge against it or choice to move on a live without its constant nagging of the past. I believe it’s a personal choice in how one lives the rest of their life and carries out him /she’s actions. The action of another individual only becomes a lesson not a life style. I’m very embarrassed of my actions and they are holding me back from so many things such as joining the army I had to retake the math portion of a test so that I could get my diplomia but there’s nothing I can do to erase it . I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers were often expected to make the right choices but we never really evaluate the good and bad in anything. We just do things in the moment then look back after it already has affected us and we wish we would have evaluated the negative and the positives of the decisions we have…

What so bad about hate? Hate is wrong; people should not hate someone because of they skin color, or because of they sex choices or religion. We all are different in most ways; we did not make, our self we humans were created by God in his image, I know that Jesus was crucified for who he was, I believe that when a person targets another and causes them harm is because they are afraid of that person. As I read Sullivan essay of William King dragging James Byrd on the back of his truck until he was dead, I wonder that hate or was that just a dunk foolish action of someone who did not know better. Hatred requires a constant examination of your hated object's flaws, its counterarguments, its good qualities-- anything that makes it unworthy of hate. And then, you counter those arguments. You crush them. You answer that whatever good the object of your hatred may have is based on incorrect logic and decide that it is worthless. That is why hatred is an overall better feeling than love. Hatred is purer, more empowering, and more intellectual, than love.…

But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. I’m very embarrassed of my actions but there’s nothing I can do to erase it I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers were often expected to make the right choices but we never really evaluate the good and bad in anything. We just do things in the moment then look back after it already has affected us and we wish we would have evaluated the negative and the positives of the decisions we have made. Often times I like to quote from an unknown source: "A smart man learns from his own mistakes, but a wise man learns from others mistakes." I believe one does not have to make all the mistakes possible before learning that some choices are better left unchosen. There are some addictions, for example, that require only a short term exposure to them and you are "hooked" and it becomes extremely hard to free yourself from this physical enslavement. I feel that once a person constantly makes good choices, he then realizes that it just makes sense to stay on that path. I have never known a person who was happy about being a "slave" to a bad habit. There are so many positive things in life to be experienced, why limit yourself by letting bad life choices hold you back from achieving your full potential? You can never feel really good about doing a bad thing. Have you ever regretted anything? I think we all have. It is hard not to, it seems at times it can be…

What exactly is prejudice? Contrary to popular belief, prejudice is not the same as discrimination, even though both terms are usually tossed into the fray together. Prejudice refers to the prejudgment; where people make assumptions or decisions even before being aware of the relevant facts. On the other hand, discrimination refers to the treatment or distinction in favour or against a particular person, group or class. That being said, prejudice would certainly be much more widespread in societies all over the world as compared to discrimination. After all, prejudice can manifest in a society in various different ways, such as racism, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) violence, hate crimes and gender bias just to name a few. In Singapore, we are fortunate to not have to witness heinous crimes based on peoples’ prejudice against others with the government’s tough stance against such acts. This and other examples may just provide the slim chance of which the abolishment of prejudice in society may become a reality, as further discussions would attempt to show that prejudice may possibly be eradicated.…
