A basic course in general management concepts and practices to acquaint the student with theories and principles of organization, the tools of managerial decision-making, and the management process, with particular reference to the hospitality industry. Students analyze and integrate the various disciplines of management – setting strategy, managing operations, marshalling resources, creating a positive work environment, building an organization and developing people. Case studies are used. COURSE OBJECTIVES | 1. Students are able to detect problems and opportunities, while thinking on their feet. 2. Students are able to dissect problems—using their own words while brainstorming possible solutions. 3. Students learn to role play specific parts in a case and share their knowledge with members in the team, all with the idea of arriving best solution possible. LEARNING OUTCOMES | 1. Students become agile in ad hoc decision making. 2. Students are more comfortable with extemporaneous speech. 3.
