Will a binding minimum wage create more unemployment in the short run or in the long run? Explain.
Eventually people will start wanting to work for more money and with a binding minimum wage this will be difficult as it won’t be up to them. However, factors such as education can alter this. If people in the future are more educated and qualified, they’ll expect higher wages which they mightn’t receive. Also if people in general spend more, that will increase supply, which will result in more workers needed, resulting in higher paying jobs. It is a risk to have a binding minimum wage and I think it’s not a risk worth taking.
