Stereotypes:
African Americans are better at sports than white people. This is a stereotype. People think that African Americans are better at sports, but is this really true. Think about Chris Paul, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. You think that those players are the best in the game, but are they. There are very good white players that are legends. Think about Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, John Stockton, and Steve Nash. All of these white legends are very good. Some African Americans are good at sports, not all and there are white players that are very goof if not better than some African Americans. Stereotypes have a big impact on society and we should just ignore them so that our society will be a better one.
What are stereotypes and how do they affect us: A stereotype is a widely held, but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. They usually make fun of a certain race, religion, hobbies, a person’s features, and much more. They also affect the things people do. People react …show more content…
differently. For example, some people think all Muslims are bad just because a few Muslims did bad things (911). Believe it or not people do believe in stereotypes and do everything in their power to avoid the stereotype. For example, some people may try to avoid Muslims because of that day. Stereotypes also affect the way we live. People try to change so they don’t fall under the stereotype given to them; but no matter what you do you can’t change the stereotype that was already given. People get down on themselves, but there is nothing you can do. Just ignore them and don’t worry about them. This will help people live a better life.
What patterns do stereotypes have?: Stereotypes all have patterns.
They all try to bring people down and make them feel bad. People judge you by the way you look and by what you do. They all make fun of a race, religion, hobbies, someone features, etc. A stereotype isn’t true. It may be true for some of the people classified in that stereotype, but it isn’t for all of them. When someone calls an athlete dumb it may hurt their feelings because that athlete could have been very smart. These are stereotype patterns.
Conclusion:
Stereotypes affect us all. Everyone is affected by stereotypes. Whether it’s about athletes, a race, religion, a hobby, or whatever it is all people are affected by them. They all make people feel bad about ourselves and hurt people. They have many affects. If people ignore them and stop trying to change and juts accept them, then maybe people can stop stereotyping for
good.
