Fashion Trends Have you ever wondered why fashion trends are so popular, how they evolved or what inspired them to be designed? Due to my research, fashion has changed over decades. Although many events have caused fashion to change, some fashion trends today are repeats of fashion trends in the earlier days. Social class and self-esteem also play a major in fashion designs.
From 1900 to 2007, popular fads have included such fashion statements as rear-enhancing bustles, short flapper dresses, wide-leg bell bottoms, and deliberately ripped jeans (www.random history.com/1-50/003clothing.html). Most fashion designs in the 1900s were for women of the upper class. Fashion designs today are made for the wide variety of sizes that people wear and the shapes that they come in unlike fashion designs back then. Unlike fashion trends today, women in the 1900s wore long and full skirts which often had a train. Fashion trends today are some what similar to fashion trends in the 1900s. Women today wear short skirts and skin tight dresses just like women in the earlier years wore. The shorter skirts became, the more skin was revealed. Females today also wear ripped jeans just like they wore back then. Females today also wear clothes that highlight the shape of their body just like women wore back then. Also, dresses today resemble the dresses that they wore in the 1900s.
