A hero’s journey is made up of 12 stages that can be found in practically every story that exists. These stages can be repeated, switched around, and some stages can even be skipped depending on the preferences of each individual writer. To begin with, stage 1, “The Ordinary World” happens before the journey begins preferably at the very beginning of the story. This stage allows us to get to know the hero personally, a hero is the main character whose main goal is to sacrifice himself to complete a quest and restore order. Stage 2, “The Call To Adventure” is when a sudden conflict arises that is well described as the first bump on the road provoking the hero to step into action. This stage also serves as a moment for the audience to catch their breath and for the hero to recharge his energy before getting back into action. Stage 10, “The Road Back”, the main task of the hero must be completed and the hero must return to his ordinary world whether the hero wants to return or not. Some sort of event takes place that causes the hero to finally return home. Stage 11, “The Resurrection”, this is considered to be the most dangerous of all confrontations. The hero must use all that he has learned to win the final showdown, he is able to prove he is a true hero and is willing to sacrifice himself to save all that depends on him before making it back into the ordinary world. Lastly comes the stage called, “Return With The Elixir”, this is the final reward at the very end of the hero’s journey. The Elixir can be a great treasure, wisdom, love, knowledge etc. It is used by the hero for the greater good once he is back in his ordinary world.
