Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood is a suitable choice for a university course in grade 11, it holds a lot of literacy elements which students should be encouraged to read and retaliate upon. This scripture entitles to mature matters and allows the reader to relate and connect situations to real life occurring’s. The book also has many different characters which are portioned in different personality categories, and carry different lifestyles and characteristics. The setting in the book allows the reader to have basic information about the technology used and puts imagination to the readers head, and background knowledge on the time period.
The first is the ability to connect to a book, it is the main part of reading a book, it’s the factor which encourages the reader to read forward and find out the way the characters are and why the situation is caused. Alias Grace reveals the problem in the beginning of the book, the poem stated on chapter 2 titled Rocky Roads, on page 11-15. This held the case story and the murder mystery aspect of the book. The reader automatically made judgements on Grace Marks and the type of character she is. The situation was laid out for you, now its curiosity that takes on its roll and forces the reader to look in, find out why the book catches their eye. Even though most books are written for people to embrace and acknowledge, it’s the writer’s job to allure the reader in reading genres, which you have no absolute interest in. Involving yourself in the book and becoming a part of it, shows that the author has done its job. There are many situations in the book, that lets the reader link real life scenarios with events which have taken place in the book, for instance Dr. Bannerling could be an average doctor that unravel in the asylums in the 20th century.
