My definition of a hero is someone who has courage integrity and concern for others. I think There are Two Sides to Every Hero. Carnegie was first a hero in his early years because he had courage. He moved to America in 1848 to the city of Pittsburg with his family to make ends meet Carnegie got a job at the age of 12 he got a job at the textile mill for $1.20 a week. I think that There are Two Sides to Every Hero. Carnegie had courage to do whatever it took and in his later life he had concern for others because he gave away all his money. Although, he lacked integrity because in his working years he only cared about himself and his money. This is still important because he as a big part of our history believe it or not. Heroism is also a big part in our lives because who doesn’t have a hero and it’s always around us in some shape or form. Honestly, you don’t have to care what I think because you may think that Andrew Carnegie was a horrible person and that’s fine because it’s your point of view a hero can have different qualities it’s all up to you it’s your hero not

Heroes are people who are admired for their courage and achievements. A hero can be a woman or man, and heroes come in many different shapes and sizes. In the text From My Hero: Extraordinary People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them it says “So we need to be very careful of those we put on a pedestal, and choose only those who embody those qualities that reflect the very best of human nature. But even that is a dangerous game. What do we do with a hero who has done something less than heroic?” I think that this quotes means that we put many heroes on a pedestal who haven’t done things of great courage. For example, my hero would be Harriet Tubman she was an African American woman who helped free enslaved people. Harriet Tubman is a well know individual…

Andrew Carnegie was no Ulysses Grant but he was also not Vanderbilt, Carnegie gave back to his country with the riches he earned. We cannot look upon Carnegie as being the child with the silver spoon in his mouth growing up. He was poor growing up and was business savvy which is how he became rich. We should not punish him for using his knowledge to become successful but we should look at what he did with the money. Andrew Carnegie was a hero, he not only brought the steel idea to America but with his riches he gave back.…

What do you think a hero is? Well in my eyes Margaret Mead is a true hero because even when it was hard for woman back then to get a college degree she still managed to get her bachelor's degree, M.A., and Ph.d degrees. She went to polynesia to study how cultural differences influenced child rearing. She was a very independent and determined person. One of her quotes is “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Jimmy Carter announced that he was awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Mead.
