Essay On Brave New World Identity
Community, identity, and stability; these concepts are key things to living a stress-free, enjoyable life. But in the book, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, life in the World State is anything but stress-free and enjoyable. That is, if you’re not conditioned by the government. In this universe, the government uses the motto “Community, Identity, Stability”, to keep their people under their rheostat, these are their ‘goals’. Their ‘community’ is that of drugs, sex, and violence. Using these concepts of being together and being identical, doesn’t give a sense of personal identity. Taking drugs and being brainwashed in your sleep does not point to the sign of being stable. The controllers of the World State use these three concepts to take control by brainwashing, teaching, and strictness. The values take away from the peoples’ individual freedoms, and makes everyone focus on what’s best for each other and the State. For example, as a “community”, they do leisure activities, such as special golf courses to make sure self-reflection is not happening. They take soma, a drug, and have orgies with each other. These are two of the activities they can do in this world. By restricting their individual freedom, the government convinces the people that this is okay. They have the orgies because …show more content…
You do not get to live your life the way you want, they determine your life for you. Before you are “born”, they decide if you will be a Gamma, Delta, Epsilons, Beta, or Alpha, the classes. They’re all different, but everyone in them are the same. You have no special identity, if you are just like everyone else. They use the idea of identity as everyone being identical. The controllers teach the ways of each faction by special treatments, like alcohol insertion, to ensure that they are very stupid or very smart. To behave outside of your assigned identity is not accepted in this

Huxley’s Brave New World (1932) is a satirical novel that presents grossly exaggerated and absurd constructs as the norm. This World State is described as the ideal place; it is the best thing that happened for humanity. It is civilized civilization. The World State is full of everything one could ever want: sex without commitment, easy access to drugs, and essentially guarantees a state of being content through conditioning. Moreover, death is no longer something to fear and feelings do not exist in their full spectrum. It is through Huxley’s use of satire and presentation of these ideals that made me aware of how those aspects form my definition of what it is to be uniquely human.…

As the esteemed political activist and professor Howard Zinn once said, “If those in charge of our society can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves.” Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World exhibits a government that successfully controls the ideas of the masses. As Zinn acutely predicted, the need for police in the World State is nearly eradicated due to the tranquility of society. Individuals are predestined prior to birth to decide which niche they will fill in society. Upon the completion of the artificial birthing process, these new members of society are conditioned according to their caste. In this dystopia, love and the concept of family are…

“Community, Identity, Stability” (1): this is what a perfect society is in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. But having stability is no easy task, especially when humanistic and biblical morals collide; a stable society is possible but only with the sacrifice of one or the other. This stable society is still fragile though. Creating a stable society with humanistic morals requires the complete destruction of biblical morals and the idolization of earthly obsessions. This destruction redefines what beauty is from a biblical standpoint to a humanistic point of view. In most developed societies today we can see the drive for change from biblical moral foundations to more humanistic morals. This can also be seen in the book 1984 written by George Orwell. Complete societal stability based on humanistic beliefs is achievable, but it requires the…

“Community, Identity, Stability” are the three words that hang on a sign at the entrance of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre. These words are supposedly the World State motto and the prime goals of this “utopian” society. In the beginning of Brave New World, Aldous Huxley portrayed the setting as a utopia, an ideally perfect place, but is anything but perfect. This novel depicts a complete nightmare where society is dehumanized, uniformed, and chaotic.…

Life compared to Brave New World and the present world are slightly different, but they both have many similarities. For one thing, life is taken for granted in both societies. Marriage is wasted, in the Savage Reservation the husbands aren't loyal or faithful to their wives, at it happens many times today. The use of drugs became a normal daily routine. Self-indulgences, nothing else matters as long ones self is happy. Weather it is in Brave New World or today's world the arts consist of one thing, sex.…

“Community, Identity, Stability” ( Huxley 1). The dystopian society of the future lives by this motto in everything it does. One of the first things Huxley mentions in his novel is this hypocritical slogan. Community and identity are controlled by the apparent stability that the government has created. There is no true identity or community when the free will of each person is being suppressed. In Aldous Huxley’s novel, Brave New World, the author uses John's life into the tribe and sudden submergence in the new world to display that natural human instincts will always outweigh the illusion of happiness and stability.…
