My grandparents have views on American identity. They think it is how we think of ourselves, but there are many different parts and cultures. Wars have shaped their generation and what they think of as an American identity. My grandfather’s “ life has been affected by the Cold War and the national draft (conscription) of young men into our armed forces”. Fighting changed his generation and their identity.
