“What is Cheerleading” What is Cheerleading you ask? Cheerleading is a sport that is made up of mostly girls but can contain boys to. Cheerleading became a sport back in 1800’s more known in 1883. As a cheerleader it is considered the most dangerous sport because, you don’t wear any protective gear, that will help you from getting hurt. It is all on your own. If you fall you are risking the chances of getting hurt and possibly breaking a bone. In cheerleading there are flyers, back bases, and two side bases. A flyer is the one person that will get hurt the most if they are not careful or their bases are not carefull.
Flyers usually are the short ones on the team and if they are not short they are the lightest ones. There is a good chance that a flyer can be tall. So in that case they go with who is the lightest on the team. Next, is the back base. The back base has the most important job. In Cheerleading there are many dangerous stunts. For example a one man stunt. This stunt involves only two people. The flyer and the backbase. In this stunt the backbase grabs the flyer’s waist and chucks them up into the air. Catching the flyer’s feet below them with two hands. After everything is in place the back base will then lift the flyer up into extension the highest the flyer can go. When finished with the stunt the back base will then throw the flyer up in the air again and as the flyer is coming down. It is the back bases job to catch the flyer by the waist.
