The Comanche Code Talkers were an elite group of young men who were fluent in the Comanche language and used that knowledge, along with the training they were given by the Army, to send critical messages that confused the enemy during World War II. Seventeen young men were trained in communications, but only fourteen were deployed to the European theater. In the 1800s children were taken to a boarding school to learn languages. The Comanche in historical times were bison hunters organized into numerous bands. Bison were the subsistence mainstay from the time the Comanche moved onto the plains. After the horse was acquired, they usually staged communal hunts under the Direction of a hunt leader. Bison were shot with bows and arrows, stabbed with lances, or sometimes driven over a cliff. Men would hunt as the women would butcher.
Next are the clothes worn by the Comanche men.
Comanche mens consisted of breechcloths, fringed buckskin tunics or shirts and leggings. Warm buffalo robes or cloaks were also worn to protect against the rain and the cold. The Comanche women were responsible for handling the clothing. The women added paint, decked ornaments, and necklaces. These are all elements about the facts, clothes, food, and history.
What I am writing about lastly is the religion of the Comanche as well as their beliefs and rituals. The Comanche beliefs are that the universe, trees, animals, and rocks are all spirits. Their ceremonies consisted of passing around tobacco then smoking out of the “Peace Pipe”. The comanche used used war paint and body decorations as their religion, depending on the prints. Prints such as an eagle, arrows, tree pictures and Greek languages should their religion.
Therefore, as you can see the Comanche is a Native American group from the Great Plains. Who were warriors of the South Plains. They are very proud of their tribe who enjoyed hunting, fashion, and learning the English
language.
