It provides checks and balances between the three branches to limit and prevent the president from abuse of his power in his position. He may grant Executive orders at any time, but the Supreme court may rule them to be unconstitutional. These checks give the House of Representatives the power to impeach the president if they believe that he is acting beyond his power. Impeachment means to bring to trial. Possible impeachable offenses would be declaring laws, using executive privilege to appoint judges or declare war without congressional approval, lying to congress under oath and misuse of federal money or taking bribes from businesses.
