Essay On Early College Program
I am Allyssa Buelow, one of the many students at Spring Lake High School. Along with a large group of students from various schools, I aim to be a part of the Early College Program. Out of all of these students, I believe I should be among those accepted into this amazing program. Neither of my parents finished college or got any degree past their high school education. I, on the other hand, have always dreamed of going to college, specifically Harvard. I knew that after highschool I would move away to a big college where I would get a fancy degree and then become extremely successful and earn exuberant amounts of money. As I have gotten older, though, the realization of the cost of college has started to weigh on me. In a family that only makes a decent amount, the Early College Program is perfect. This is program can allow me to have the opportunity to get an associate’s degree by the time I’m 19 and be able to do it completely debt free. Saving that much time and money will …show more content…
I am also a hardworking student, but sometimes I don’t start big, long-term projects right away. The weekly check-ins would help stop this. Another thing that would help me specifically is the actual classes. Having college classes will force me to work harder and smarter. This would help prepare me for full-time college after high school and the Early College Program. School has always been a strong-suit for me. Throughout elementary school I had A’s and B’s. Then from middle school to current time I have prided myself in keeping straight A’s. Keeping a 4.0 GPA is something I strive for and usually accomplish. One of my strengths in school would be math. I’m taking trigonometry this year as a sophomore. Something that I need to work on is reading in general. I know the Early College Program will be able to help with this

In “Prisoner on the Hell Planet: A Case History,” Art Spiegelman evokes German expressionist wood-cut drawings, similar to Lynd Ward, to convey and suggest depth and weight through his use of heavy and jagged lines. This strategy in turn helps the viewer embrace the emotional anguish Artie is feeling after finding out his mother had passed. Spiegelman sets the shockingly confessional tone of the piece in the first two frames by wasting no time describing his mother’s method of suicide. The 1972 story’s disturbing storyline and style of narration was not necessarily uncommon during the comix era (roughly ranging from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s), a taboo-breaking time when trying to shock the reader became common. Although “Prisoner on…
