The interceding work of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers comes as a result of man’s weakness. Dr. Wallace states that in Romans 8:26, 27, Paul speaks of two ways in which the Holy Spirit works in believers: “1. By helping them in their infirmities and 2. By making intercession for them.” In light of the first way, regardless of salvation, there exists a spiritual conflict in believers. Therefore, if a believer is to live a committed and dedicated life there must be a spiritual help and this help cannot be provided by anyone else but God who is the Spirit. “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what the mind of the spirit is,” Romans 8:27a. God knows the thoughts and intends of every heart and what the Spirit can do to provide help for the believer in his/her spiritual weakness.

Bubeck, the indwelling works of the Holy Spirit requires only three conditions: 1. “quench not the Spirit” (1 Thessalonians 5:19), 2. “Grieve not the Spirit of God” (Ephesians 4:30), and 3. “Walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). He further explained, to quench the Spirit is to resist or reject the will of God for one’s life, and to grieve the Spirit is the result of unconfessed sin in the believer’s life. But if the believer is able to stand against these two enemies of the Spirit operation in his/her life, than he/she has placed themselves in the position of walking in the Spirit, which is willingness and total surrender to the person and work of the Holy Spirit in his/her life, therefore, the interceding of the Holy Spirit must greatly be appreciated by every true
