rapidly. Juvenile crime today is a serious problem. It became obvious that public organizations were not caring adequately for the growing number of troubled youths. Juvenile offenders are entitled to different laws and procedures than several adults charged with crime. What is a Juvenile Court Process? According to www.nolo.com when a juvenile is suspected of violating a criminal statute, the procedure that’s followed is very different from the procedures used for adult offenders in a typical criminal case. However, all states have created a special juvenile court system for minors who get into trouble with the law. Based off juvenile courts they have a broad range of disposition orders, if they find that a juvenile is delinquent. After committing a crime juveniles are detained other than getting arrested. A juvenile can be restricted by the courts in a variety of ways. Many juvenile offenders are punished in ways such as house arrest, juvenile detention facility, counseling, community service and probation appointed by the judge order. I am 100% sure that there are many positive things our youth can be occupied by, rather be in the streets committing meaningless harm. There are many reasons why a teenager would be into any trouble. Some risk factors are family, peers, school and community. Family factors could come from poverty, family violence, divorce meaning separation of parents, and a large size family. Peer can be from rejection of a peer. Last, but not least, school and community may be the biggest factor why many teenagers are in trouble. These factors can be poor academic performance, disorganized neighborhoods, and access to weapons. Most juvenile delinquents are peer pressured. Juveniles are not really violent and disrespectful as you think they are. Many times most juveniles are violent because of the company they tend to keep around them. The juvenile systems are definitely responsible for processing and investigate almost 1.4 million cases dealing with delinquency annually. Many parents see their child/children headed down the wrong path at an early age.
Many parents become active once their child has been involved into the juvenile justice department. Additionally most parents who are not present in the time of need for a child are more likely to become a bully, mean and aggressive to others which may lead to violent behavior. Likewise, parents try their best to give their child/children the guidance that he or she needs to stay out of trouble. There are many activities a juvenile delinquent can be occupied by besides running the streets and looking for trouble. There are several programs that our teens and younger children can do to be productive and active. The most important effective programs are usually recreation community involvement and most of all juvenile boot camp and prison visits. However, I have heard that they have completely cut off boot camp program. Often, parents act quicker to prison visit programs such as Beyond Scared Straight. Many parents react to the prison visit faster than any other program because the jail visit gives the child a feel of what life would be like if they continue to head down the wrong path. These programs can prevent many teenagers to stay positive and stay away
from violence. Although, many teens just so happen to do the programs but many never really seem to change their bad habit. Many teens think life is a game and prison is a fun exciting place to be when its not. Teenagers in the 2000’s generation does not realize how important it is to have an education and make an impact on someone else life. In the United States they incarcerate children at a higher rate due to struggling with a mental illness. Generally speaking, I feel that the juvenile programs that juveniles go through are a good way to straighten them up, at least majority of the youth. Most juvenile offenders are non-criminal behaviors. The most common status offenses are truancy, curfew violations, running away and alcohol violations.
Cognitive behavioral Therapy can be helpful to teens and as well as adults. This therapy help many juveniles become conscious of his or her thoughts and behaviors. However sinking thoughts into a teenager’s brain will make them look at several situations differently. Most behavior of a youth or teens comes from not thinking of what the consequences may be. Therapy should be recommended for all juvenile delinquents so that they can get a clear understanding the many things that they do are unacceptable.
