Kasey Mullaney In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird Scout and Jem learn many life lessons. Scout thinks that all there is to learn things in school, but they learn many life lessons. A lesson they learned is don’t judge somebody on what other people think of them.

Tom was really a kind, honest person. Tom even did work for the Euells for free, because he felt bad that they didn’t have a lot of money. Bob and his daughter Mayella took Tom to court. Scout and Jem’s dad is Toms lawyer so they knew what happened and that Tom should be treated fair, and be proven innocent. Even though Tom told the truth in court he was still found guilty. Tom never did anything wrong and Scout and Jem knew that, so they learned that they should treat people fair.
Scout and Jem realize the affect that treating people unfairly has on other people, Toms wife was really upset when tom died, and it was all because of his unfair trial. So that can help them to know that treating people fair has an effect on everyone.
