Essay On Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin In The Sun

Collin Powell once said, “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic.” This quote means that dreams don’t come true on its own, dreams needs a lot of components to make them come true. The types of components would be putting in work, having the will power to follow your dreams, and surround yourself with people that will help make your dreams come true. These ideas are necessary for each character in the book, “A raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry. A Raisin in the Sun is about the Younger family struggling as African Americans to achieve their dreams in the 1950s. Walter lee younger wants to invest his father’s insurance money in a new liquor store and his sister Beneatha wants to pursue her dream to be a doctor. In the book, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorrain Hansberry the audience learns that dreams you dream alone won’t come true without work, determination, and support from your family.

At times both dreams of Walter and Beneatha were not supported by the people around them. This ties in to when I quoted that dream don’t come true through magic. In the society today people may think that dreams will come true with a snap of a finger but is not true. People today will look at Celebrities and be like, “oh I wish I can be her/him”, when society today people should know that the person who you look up to didn’t become rich and famous by doing nothing to be the way they are
