all the women. The meeting is to set up a plan to end the war. This shows Lysistrata has decided on the decision to end the war and is dedicated to seeing her idea become true. Every plan that Lysistrata decides to act, she has a specific result she wants.
In Lysistrata, passionate is one word that describes the character of Lysistrata.
If Lysistrata did not have passion, the story would not of took place. The most important thing Lysistrata is passionate about is ending the peloponnesian war. She wants there to be peace and for every women to have their husbands home from war. Lysistrata shows how passionate through the whole book. She is willing to action, no matter what the cost is to end the war. One example, at the beginning of the story all the women have a meeting, held by Lysistrata. She then makes all the women take an oath. The oath states that the women are not to have any sexual conduct with their husbands until the war is over. She is passionate about ending the war, that much is clear. For her to go to the extent of making over women swear to not have any sexual conduct with their husband till it is over. That just shows how passionate she is about doing everything it takes to end the
war.
Lysistrata’s character is extremely intelligent. When the women are trying to end the war, Lysistrata thought of the most intelligent idea. Her idea was to take over the acropolis. An acropolis is similar to a bank. It is where the men kept all the money to fund the war. Lysistrata knows that by taking over the acropolis the men will not have any more money to fund the war. By taking over the acropolis Lysistrata knows that just this one incident will not stop the war. However, it will make it harder for the men to continue on and it would eventually cause the war to end. Lysistrata also holds herself to a higher level of the other women she is around. She does not show lust toward any man. She knows that if she shows lust toward any man, the delegates will take this as a sign of weakness. The delegates seemed to show her more respect for this.
Lysistrata’s character is reveal all throughout the novel of Lysistrata. She is decisive, extremely passionate, and remarkably intelligent. However, Lysistrata does not excel at being any of these more than the other. Her decisiveness, passion, and intelligence all are shown equally through the work. That is why her character is revealed best through these actions.
