In Miracle on 49th Street, the setting plays a key role. The story is set primarily in Boston and New York City. The story also suggests that the story is set from the present time. The main character in this story is twelve-year old Molly Parker. In the story, Molly is shown to be the main character when she goes to New York and the author focuses mainly on her thoughts and actions. Also, when Molly is supposed to move to Los Angeles near the end, the text again zooms in on Molly’s thought process. The point of view is third person limited because in the story, the reader can see only Molly’s thoughts.

The theme of Miracle on 49th Street is that no matter what happened in the past, reform is always possible. The message is shown in the end of the story when Josh finally realizes that he had previously been a selfish person and that he could change by accepting Molly as his daughter. This theme also connects to me. For example, when I was younger I didn’t listen to my parents when they advised me on how to get better at violin.
