Essay On Obstacles In The Odyssey

The Odyssey was one of the most action filled books i think i have ever read. now i don't like reading very much, in fact i hardly ever read and i couldn't wait to get back to class to read more of The Odyssey. The Odyssey is a story of a guy who has about a 20 year struggle to return home to is wife and son after fighting in the trojan war. Odysseus faces many obstacles on his journey home such as the Cyclops island, The sirens island and Calypso's island. The first obstacle that Odysseus faces is the Cyclops island. At the Cyclops island they find his cave and the Cyclops comes back to his cave and mvs a huge rock in front of the door so everyone is stuck inside. Then one of the men make a noise and the Cyclops hears them and says “Who's in my Cave?” The men all stop silent and are very scared. They wait till he falls asleep and they make a giant spear 6 ft long and they stab him in his eye making sure not to kill him because he is the only one who can move the huge rock to get out. AFter they blind him they hide under the Cyclops sheep's bellies and sneak out with the sheep. Odysseus was very smart in controlling his men and getting out alive. The second obstacle Odysseus's crew faces is Calypso's
Some of the most important ideas in this story is that Odysseus when too all these islands and he made it out alive and made him safe and sound and the important idea is that everyone can do the same just persevere through it and don't give up. Yes, I think this story should be read by all Freshmen in high school because it's a very good and action filled story and the reading level is high but not too high not to understand. The Odyssey is very good story to read and there are so many life lessons that can be taken away from this story. Like I already said if u persevere through ur struggles and make smart choices there will be a good
