Pat was pushed hard her entire life. From growing up with 3 rough brothers, she was a strong lady. You get why she pushes hard because she was always taught to work hard and not to leave till the work was done. Her father, Richard Head, was a severe man who whipped his children when they broke any of his rules. "While I loved and respected my father, I also feared him,” Pat said.
Always after a long hard day of work, her and her brothers would go in the barn and play basketball. Since Pat was younger than her siblings she did not always win. She always tried her hardest. When Pat became a teenager, she could beat her brothers easily. They did not know what hit them (Reach for the Summitt 24-29). Pat coached at the University of Tennessee for 38 years.
