Webster, Feller, and Lambros (2008) developed the ACL Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) scale to assess the psychological impact of returning to sport following an ACL reconstruction. They found that there were three types of psychological responses connected with the continuation of participating in sports, including risk assessment, confidence in ability, and emotions (Webster, Feller, and Lambros, 2008). These were then made into the 12-item ACL-RSI scale. They found that higher scores reflected positive psychological responses and the individual’s psychological state impacted their participation and continued participation in sport (Webster, Feller, and Lambros, 2008). Studies such as Langford, Webster and Feller (2008) and Ardern et al. (2013) utilised the ACL-RSI scale. They found that individuals who returned to sport immediately after physical rehabilitation scored higher on the ACL-RSI scale and had a more positive psychological response than patients who either did not return to sport or, did not return to the same
