There are so many different influences throughout the world and in history who have changed society for the better by standing up for rights. For example, “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends” (Rowling). J.K. Rowling is saying how if you are being hurt by someone it takes great courage to do something about it, but if your friends are hurting someone else or yourself it takes even more courage to do something about it and to end things. Although standing up is a great method for peace and showing people your beliefs, staying quiet has its benefits as well, for example, “say if your coworker is getting yelled at by your boss for a wrongdoing and you step in you are putting your job on the line for something that is none of your business” (Silence). Staying quiet in a situation like this is not a place for you to step in, especially when it has nothing to do with you
