Symbols are used to show depth and meanings to the story. Many people believed that authors uses symbols to show their feelings toward the object. Suzanne Collins represented many symbols in her story, “The Hunger Games”. Some of them are the bread, the dandelion, the mockingjay, the woods, and the poisonous berry. The woods might represent the place where she might first learn how to survive. It can also represent the world beyond our Earth, she might think that the wood is isolated from the cities and people doesn’t usually go there. Veronica Roth represented many symbols in her story, “Divergent”. Some of them are the tattoos, the gun, the feared landscape, the faction’s housing, and the mirror.
