One example of segregation is separate schools. African American kids were not aloud to go to the same schools. Whiter kids had nice stuff, like a nice building, textbooks, desks, and they had buses. African Americans did not have nice stuff, some African American schools had buses, but not many. Another example is that African Americans could not sit in the front of public buses, they all had to sit in the back. And if the bus was full, they could kick African Americans off the bus to give room for the white people. And they would not even get a refund. My final example is that white people are rude to African Americans. One time, a white boy said hi to and African American. The father of the white boy saw it and yelled, “What did you say to that ******?” He then told his son to kick him, and the white boy did what he was told. My final cause is discrimination. One example of discrimination is separate water fountains. Most of the time, there were 2 different water fountains. One would say ‘Colored’ and the other says ‘white.’ The white one would look nicer than the colored one. Another example is separate jobs. Most of the jobs are for white people only, rarely would there be nice paying job for african americans. My final example is stores. Most stores had different doors for people. African Americans had to enter through the back, and white people would enter through the front
