Black Lives Matter Argument
Today, we constantly hear "Black Lives Matter" and we as a united nation see these protests on our televisions at night on our news channels while we are spending our quality time with our families. These peaceful protests are negatively impacting our free society.
A free society, as we are, is a very special thing. We have our freedoms, our diversity, and our customs, but as resistance to laws, although peaceful and legal, continue to take place, our free society hurts. Black Lives Matter protests circulate all around our country for the purpose of protecting their rights. Yes, blacks deserve rights, but so does everyone else's from every other race out there. As these protests become more popular, our society is hurt because it begins to dis-unify our society. Other races begin to think differently of blacks, blacks turn against other races, especially whites, and it just becomes a big issue.
In the past, civil rights movements had taken place with many events, such as Rosa Parks, and other resistance cases. But, in the end, nothing has truly been solved. There are citizens that are still not satisfied and resistance, from its beginnings has began making people greedy. Not just blacks, or whites, or any race in specific. As a event comes and goes, a reaction, such as rioting, laws passed,

There are much more important things our there than being resistant to a law, or aiming for a right, because in all actuality, at the end of the day, everyone is on the same playing field. These things don't matter. Everyone's life matters, not just blacks. Our free society should be thankful for what we have and the things we share. Unity matters, not the little disputes between race, beliefs, or rights. As a society we need to get over this. Rioting, looting, and being against law enforcement is not helping

Racism has been an issue for centuries and we keep letting it affect modern America. American’s have chosen to keep the impression that whites are superior to blacks and have used it as an excuse to put blame on individuals. There are so many issues about abuse by white police officers on black individuals that it really has taken a toll on today’s society. People are still debating that they are not being treated fairly because of race and it is because of our country’s past. A lot of minorities feel like they are targeted and are protesting when in actuality it has nothing to do with…

Since the majority of blacks were former slaves or children of former slaves they were still viewed as lesser than normal citizens. The mistreatment of black people in America is still prevalent today and is associated with policing in some communities in the United States. For example “The group was founded in 2013 following the acquittal of George Zimmerman, who had been charged with murdering black teen Trayvon Martin. Over the next few years, the Black Lives Matter movement swelled in popularity, particularly after several incidents of police brutality involving African Americans began permeating national news. In 2015, Black Lives Matter activists protested for racial equality at various events held by 2016 presidential election candidates.” Neither Fredrick Douglas nor I may change our skin tone and we both live this reality. The effect of this hardship was that I gained an understanding that some people in America just will not like me for the color of my skin.…

Based on Brent staples talk, the black lives matter movement is justified. It is justified because black male and female lives are very unfair, there are many differences created between people based on their color of skin. In Brent’s essay he states, “After dark on the warrenlike streets where i live, i often see women who fear the worst for me.” The quote from Brent’s essay is an example is an example of a black male doing nothing wrong, doing the same the same thing as everyone else in the town, he’s just walking around minding his own business and he is getting judged for it. In Ted talk is is stated that the saying “Black lives matter” isn’t saying black lives are the only…

A black person is killed every 28 hours, and black men between ages 19 and 25 are the group most at risk to be gunned down by the police. Based on data from the center on juvenile and criminal justice, young blacks are 4.5 times more likely to be killed by police than any other age or racial groups. The reason that black lives matter is because African-Americans are killed more in this world than any other race. An example would be if you put a young white man and a 3 young black man who are dressed the same together, the young black man would have a greater chance of being stopped just because of his race. This is because of the color of his skin it causes a lot of suspicion and the mindset that many whites have is that many blacks are dangerous and can't be trusted.…

Blacks are not getting proper justice when it comes to dealing the law enforcements. They are being seen as criminals and this has cause many of innocent Black lives to be killed. Blacks have to be cautious because they do not know if they will get killed. Just because they are Black they are being subjective as a problem in society, instead of just regular people like everyone else. In history, Blacks have been killed just for walking down the wrong street or look at a person. This is happening now and the law is not doing anything to stop the innocent bloodshed of Blacks. The South was lynching innocent Blacks just because and the law did not do anything to stop it. Black Lives Matter is taking that stand to help stop the killing of Blacks by police officers. Black Lives Matter is showing that Blacks do matter and the injustice that were are going through because people of the law are not doing their jobs like they supposed too. It showed that racism is deeply rooted in our country and it has not slowed down. The only difference is that we have edvident to show the truth and not just a one-single…

As one of the largest grassroots movements in the country, Black Lives Matter is a reaction to the dehumanization of Black people, a call to action against societal and institutional racism, as well as a rebuild of the narrow, conventional liberation movements that too often marginalized women, queer, trans, disabled and undocumented immigrants from within the movement. As such, it does not limit its scope to the alarmingly high poverty, incarceration and extrajudicial killing rates, but it includes grievances specific to those that usually take the back seat in those movements. Black Lives Matter calls for society as a whole to end racial discrimination, to acknowledge the contribution of Black people to it, but also for Black folks and their…

A few weeks ago the media covered the riots in Baltimore due to the death of Freddie Gray. There was constant media coverage of buildings burning, stealing, and attacks on Baltimore Police Department and its property. However, there was hardly any coverage on the peaceful protesting in the Baltimore area and African-Americans speaking out against the destruction and violence in the city. Protestors were called “thugs” and “criminals” even by the president himself. However, President Obama did speak briefly on the peaceful riots in his speech; I find his term of the protestors a little harsh. I think this was the climax of the anger African-Americans have toward America and its law regarding the lives of young black men and women. If one thinks…

The Black Lives Matter movement was influenced by the death of Michael Brown. Being able to hear from his mother was a wonderful experience. We discussed in class the riots in Ferguson in 1967 and how that can be compared to the most recent riot after the death of Michael Brown. There were certain buildings being burnt down, there was a message meaning to be sent. The opportunity I had to listen to Lezley McSpadden helped me understand why this is a social movement and not just a riot. The death of Michael Brown was a spark in the Black Lives Matter movement and can be compared to the death of Emmett Till and the spark of the Civil Rights movement. Mamie Till can be compared to Lezley McSpadden. Although there is a big difference in time period, both mothers decided to speak openly about their son’s deaths and create awareness. However, in today’s “post racial” society McSpadden received feelings of hatred walking into a store from a white woman, it was hard for her to be herself with the media attacking her, and her son. In the time period of Emmett Till’s death of 1955 it was okay for Mamie Till to express her anger, because of the fact that is was white supremacy that was the reason for her son’s death. This is a change that not many first identify, but is a change that is alarming. The officer who killed Michael Brown is believed to have only killed him based on the fact that he was…

Actor and Civil Rights activist, Isaiah Washington once stated, “Imagine if every single African American in the United States that was really fed up with being angry, sad, and disgusted, would pick ONE DAY to simply ‘stay at home’ from every single job, work site, sports arena and government office in the United States of America. I’m pretty sure that within 72 hours from Wall Street to the NFL… Black Lives Would Matter” (Puglise). Since then, Washington has led movements against police brutality such as the #StayAtHomeSeptember262016 movement. However, more people must band together to fight the racial violence that is spiraling throughout the United States today. Although some people may wrongly criticize the boycotts, stating that movements…

In a perfect world all lives matter, but recently the question has been, do all lives really matter. As an answer to this question the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement was created. It was established in 2012 after the murder of Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African American male from Miami Gardens, Florida. His death proved that blacks are still targeted because of the color of their skin. I myself, along with many others agree that African Americans are still at the top of the list when it comes to being victims of racism. I feel that Black Lives Matters was established to express the concerns of the black community, and also to say the black community has a voice that is going to be heard. I assume the creators of BLM want to understand…

It is an acknowledgment that one million Black people are locked in cages in this country and that Black women continue to bear the burden of a relentless assault on our children and our families. #BlackLivesMatter doesn’t mean your life isn’t important it means that Black lives, which are seen as without value within White supremacy, are important to your liberation. Given the disproportionate impact state violence has on Black lives, we understand that when Black people in this country get free, the benefits will be wide-reaching and transformative for society as a…

When hate takes place as a citizen you are faced with two choices to either do nothing and let hate take over or take a stand and speak out. This being the 21st century, today there is social media to help put awareness and help fight the justice system. Social media is the modern form of communication that the younger generation uses to massly spread information. In order for hate to be stopped, hate has to be exposed and denounced. Many modern-day institutions are to blame for the persistence of racism within the United States, however, many common protests such as those for the Black Lives Matter movement fail to make an impact on such major institutions. Historically, significant institutions such as the Federal government of the United States own a vast amount of power related to constructing “racist” policies, nevertheless, many antiracism protests to end these policies are not aimed at higher institutions. For example, movements such as Black Lives Matter are comprised mostly of young people who attempt to press against racial discrimination in all forms, rather than against those who have the power to undermine discrimination. Likewise, by attempting to impact…

Americans overcame the separation of people based on their skin color, but there always has and will be a little animosity toward any minority in the United States. Americans should not be divided among themselves; God created all people to be equal and to live with each other in peace. I firmly believe that “All Lives Matter,” especially because the world is becoming more and more racially mixed, which means that some individuals are putting their differences aside for love. Everyone should love one another, regardless if an individual is different or not just as God loves each and every person. Every person has the potential to be a contributing member in this world, and one life is not more beneficial than another. The “Black Lives Movement” is a stance against the mistreatment of people of color; however, the violence that is promoted through this movement is destroying families of other races and ethnicities. Some African Americans feel that the only way for the voice of all mistreated people to be heard is through violence, while I believe that living by example is the better way to express that “All Lives Matter.” The…

Every 28 hours a black man is killed by a police officer and only two percent are indicted. These statistics are showing that the lives of black men and minorities are not important. Our beloved nation was founded on the belief that we were all created equal. That we have the unalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet the sad reality of all this, is that after years of civil rights movements, protests, and non stop effort to raise awareness of the issue, in the U.S. racism is still very much alive. Sure we have gone a very long way to back in the days of Martin Luther King J.r., Blacks/Minorities are not so bluntly discriminated but now in days its as if this new form of subliminally resentful actions are being brought to this day and age.…
