where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny” (Shakespeare, 377). This quote taken from Romeo and Juliet shows us that the families were enemies, and proves that any correlation between them will not be tolerated by the Capulets nor Montagues. The same is true for Pyramus and Thisbe, “They longed to marry but their parents forbade” (Hamilton, 488). Nevertheless, may I remind you that love can always find a way. Not only were the couples ill-fated, they defied all odds, family feuds weren't the only circumstances separating them, but walls and a city. Pyramus and Thisbe were separated by a wall, but that never stopped them from finding a way to speak to each other. “In the wall both houses shared there was a little chink. No one before had noticed it, but there is nothing a lover does not notice.” ( Hamilton, 488). The two talked back and forth as much as they in the quietness of darkness. They grew in their relationship together the more they talked hence their love grew for each other. Whereas Romeo and Juliet never spoke to each other until the night of the party and from then on they never really got to talk at all, but actions speak louder than words. “ Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe's debt” ( Shakespeare, 395). Although, they have never met before both are swept away and fall in love, but end up finding they are in love with their biggest enemy but connected with love. There was an event that happened in Pyramus and Thisbe that didn’t happen in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet this event is significant enough to impact the relationships that the couples have. This event is the fact that Pyramus and Thisbe grew up together while Romeo and Juliet did not. “Growing up side by side they learned to love each other” (Hamilton, 488). If you grow up with someone, you tend to know them better than if you just met them. Since Pyramus and Thisbe grew up together they know more about each other than Romeo and Juliet ever had. This knowledge of each other's past for Pyramus and Thisbe made them a stronger couple. Romeo and Juliet just barely knew each other which made the situation where they died for each other, confusing because they didn’t even know each other well enough to have loved each other as deeply as Pyramus and Thisbe.
The ending of these stories are very much alike, for the reason they end with the lovers dead.
In both stories the men find the women who they believe are dead and because of the strong love they feel for the women they commit suicide to be with them. The same happened with the women too they find the strong men that they loved and decide they can't live a day without them and commit suicide. ¨ Here's to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die¨ (Shakespeare, 473) Romeo finds Juliet in the tomb in a coma but perceives her as dead so he kills himself. Although, as soon as Juliet awakes and finds Romeo dead she grabs his dagger and kills
herself.
The same actions are done by Pyramus and Thisbe. Pyramus finds a cloak tore up and bloody and realizes it was Thisbe's cloak and decides he must die to be with her, so he plunges a sword in his body. Nevertheless, Thisbe comes upon the body and can´t bare life without him so she grabs his sword and kills herself. ¨ She plunged into her heart the sword that was still wet with his life's blood¨ (Hamilton, 489). As we read we find that these stories are very similar and seem to follow the same plot. In conclusion, the stories of the ill- fated lovers have many similarities and will do anything to remain with the one they love, even if it means death on both accounts.
