In the case of Mark, we learn how the integumentary system interconnects with various other systems to keep our bodies functioning and healthy. The Integumentary system consists of the skin, hair, nails, and exocrine glands. This case represents the importance of the Integumentary system and how it has a strong effect on the nervous system.
Mark is a 35 year old male weighing approximately 70 kg (or somewhere around 154 pounds) and was found shirtless. He was engulfed by the heat in the desert with outside temps ranging anywhere around 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Mark had a disoriented state of mind,was weak willed and had first degree sunburns coating his face/back. Mark only expanded his chances of getting these type of burns when he stripped his clothes off. It was explained that he didn't bring any extra water or sunblock in his journey into the desert. His blood pressure was fairly low (70/50), he complained of a headache. He was found to have a internal body temperature of a whopping 105 degrees and showed no signs of sweating. Mark after being found, was diagnosed by paramedics of suffering of a heat stroke. Mark should be concerned with the mole, because moles are a sign of skin cancer, especially if they grow in size, color change and if they bleed; which in this case they do. Mark's body is only responding to the direct sunlight it was but in for a time span of at least 5 hours. Mark should get the mole continually checked, and maybe even tested. the skin is really our bodies protector and should always be treated with care. You should never underestimate the value of skin because it controls many components and regulates other systems in our everyday
