First of all the men never knew that they had syphilis there was never any formal consent of the participants. The men were also never informed of the known dangers. Scientist also denied treatment to some of the patients in order to observe the dangers of how the disease progressed till it was fatal. The scientist never wanted to treat the men they wanted to study the corpse. One of the doctors had even said “We have no further interest in the patients until they die.” they wanted the bodies to be able to go in and see how it affected a black man rather than a white man. They never told the men what was going on because they wanted to make sure that they did not back out. They needed them to not know what was going on since they need their cooperation. Throughout the experiment the scientist never learn anything or uncovered anything new. It is such a pity to think that it took 40 years for the government to find out that it was actually cruel what they were doing to the men rather it being something
