There are many reasons why the Constitution has been successful for America over the last two hundred years. The Constitution was created to institute America’s national government and laws, and promise the citizens certain rights. The best part of the Constitution is that it not only works, but it has been improved through amendments and is better for the citizens today then when it was first ratified.

An amendment is a minor change in a document, or in this case, the Constitution. The first ten amendments, known as the Bill of Rights, were passed by the Congress on March 4, 1794 and were ratified on February 7, 1795. These amendments were created to allow the people more involvement in government. For instance, the people are the ones who vote for the president. Also, the people are allowed to speak up for what they believe in. The use of amendments provides flexibility and allows for change too. From the time the Constitution was first passed by Congress until now, there have been 27 amendments. That’s how flexible the Constitution is.
Some people might say that the Constitution has become ineffective over time. The Executive Branch has grown stronger over the years. Some believe more than the other branches. However, the checks and balances system will even out this imbalance in power. Also, the Judicial Branch does not limit terms for judges, they are selected for life.
