Essence of Educational Tour
NARRATIVE REPORT
“The World is a book and those who do not travel read only a page”—St. Augustine. Educational Tour is part of the students’ journey towards learning. Learning is not only limited inside the four (4) walls of the classroom, because we learn best when we are exposed to new experiences and things around us. I, for one, I’m looking at tours optimistically, that with the help of bringing the students’ outside, they tend to discover new things that they’re actually involved. During our educational tour dated September 11-13, we’ve gone to Cebu City, the Queen City of the South. I, together with my co-students who are second year, third year and fourth year witnessed how it was really great to be exposed in some schools around Cebu. We are there not only to merely have fun; rather we are there to learn lots of things that are in line with our chosen field or specializations. We’ve gone to different schools namely CNU (Cebu Normal University), Cebu Braille Center, SWU (Southwestern University). USJR (University of San Jose Recoletos), Saint Ezekiel Moreno Learning Center, Lapu-Lapu City Elementary School and Mandaue Sped Center. All of these schools provided all the needs that every student/pupil is to acquire as it is concern in educational system.
During our visit, I was amazed on the facilities and services they provided to their students, in CNU (Cebu Normal University), they first introduced the history of where, how, and when did Cenu Normal University has started, its founder, its origin and how it evolves to become one of the best school around Cebu, they brought us to Cebu Braille Center and explained to us that they were not owning this center, but because they wanted to help those special children, they let this center be in their community and later then they would want to find ways and means to adopt this center as to be included in the Cebu Normal University Program. As I visit the center, I was very happy to saw how the students and

Schools organize learning journeys for students which foster important learning experience that will link the theoretical with the experiential. This provides students with more insights of the outside world rather than just being cooped in classrooms studying textbooks and notes. For instance, students have the opportunities to go overseas for exchange programmes to experience the education system in the schools of other countries. Some trips are specially catered for students to learn more about a certain subject. For example, schools bring their students to Germany to learn more about geography. Worksheets are also specially designed to supplement the syllabus. At the end of the trip, students would benefit as it helps to better appreciate what they have learnt in the textbooks. Clearly, learning journeys injects life and meaning to the learning so that it becomes real and concrete.…

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ― Augustine of Hippo. This was my favourite quotation of St. Augustine, through my high school years we are taught about his life, journeys and teachings. I have live a Augustinian life, being a follower of Christ he is the one behind all of my success and failures. I may not be one of the best students from my batch but at least once I have proven that I give my best. Yes, I have proven myself and before that happens I almost failed, lost hope and even give up but courage to prove myself become my persuasion for not giving up to achieve all the success in education and in life.…

Educational tours are one of the main ways that we students can be drawn in to experience learning immediately rather than by sitting in a classroom and read manuals. Educational tour/s purpose is to expose us student in real industries, manufacturing companies wherein we learn some of their processes, system and workflows since not all students learn the same way. Some students are able to understand how something works only by seeing a hands-on demonstration or viewing the “real thing”. Educational tour gives us ideas likewise opportunities to visit different industries or manufacturing companies that may help us visualize what we are learning at school. On February 26, 2015, the BA 2 students held an educational tour in three selected companies namely: International Pharmaceutical Incorporated (IPI), Coca Cola Corporation and Profood International Corporation. The educational tour started out as an escape from school for most of us students, bonding with friends, chance to unwind and of course, to learn new things and to gain knowledge and expertise at the same time that we may apply someday. First, we went to IPI. When I enter to IPI, I noticed that it is so quiet and well-guarded. There are so many restrictions like bringing camera, cellphones and the like. Afterwards, we proceed to the convention room, there’s a short briefing about the history of IPI, little introduction of their products, and the company’s VMG (Vision, Mission, Goal) as well as a short video presentation. Unfortunately, we’re not given the chance to visit their plant where the liniments was made due to certain reason of avoiding unnecessary disturbance to the workers and to maintain proper hygiene. But fortunately, they give us enough information regarding the company and its product. Basically, IPI started only single product which is Efficascent Oil, established by the Wong and Castillo family. Also, IPI is a manufacturing company and a distributor. The IPI we visited is actually the…
