Eugen Bleuler made many early discoveries which were built used to understand the depth of Schizophrenia. Dereistic thinking was an early word derived by Bleuler which can often be referred to as an active imagination. Dereistic means thinking which is incongruent with actuality. Bleuler created this term from two latin words de re which means “away from reality”. As …show more content…
Eugen Bleuler discovered Schizophrenia, along with developing ways to identify and classify the disorder. The technology available to test for mental illnesses has been much improved since Bleuler’s time. Not only does Eugen Bleuler’s discovery of the 4 A’s help to identify Schizophrenia, but it has been shown that the disorder is genetic, and can be displayed through molecular tests. Announced in the summer of 2016, a blood test has been developed to discover biomarkers that display schizophrenia. According to professor Sabine Bahn at the Cambridge Centre for Neuropsychiatric Research, the test is “an automated test that uses a single serum sample to identify 51 protein biomarkers,”(Kaplan, Blood). There are specific markers that show early-onset schizophrenia. Being able to test these biomarkers can help a medical professional be positive on the diagnosis. With Eugen Bleuler’s discovery of schizophrenia, further research was able to be done to find an easy and effective way to diagnose the
