Africa socially before imperialism was very diverse and well constructed. They had social classes that helped differentiate between higher citizens and lower citizens. People viewed Africa as very weak socially and believed that the Europeans helped stable them. They had laws in place that kept the various countries in order as well as a well built government’s that kept order. They had various well-equipped leaders in each country that were qualified for the job and well voting systems that gave the citizens a voice.
After the Europeans entered Africa, they not only took over the social classes, the took over the individual political systems. The Europeans again believed no blacks should be leaders so therefore they overthrown the already established leaders and put their own laws and practices into place. For example, they often thrown leaders into jail for no secure reasons such as Nelson Mandela. Again Europe turned Africa from a already stabled and established continent to a divided un-structured warland.
