The World Medical Association's Declaration on Euthanasia, adopted by the 38th World Medical Assembly, Madrid, Spain, October 1987, states “Euthanasia, that is the act of deliberately ending the life of a patient, even at the patient's own request or at the request of close relatives, is unethical. This does not prevent the physician from respecting the desire of a patient to allow the natural process of death to follow its course in the terminal phase of sickness.” This statement indicates that euthanasia is unethical even though there was some statutory exception. In Thailand, National Health Act, B.E. 2550 (2007) states “ A person shall have the right to make a living will in writing to refuse the public health service which is provided merely to prolong his/her terminal state of life or to make a living will to refuse the service as to cease the severe suffering from illness.” However, the views of law, this statement is wrong. In Legal consideration, this action does not do because the doctors know the patients have to be cured by them otherwise they will die. National Health Act does not conform to the law. It just involves with passive euthanasia but active euthanasia is wrong in Thai law.
