This explains why it is illegal in some places. People might argue the difference between a suicide and euthanasia. Many factors have to apply for euthanasia to be considered. For example, the reasons people commit suicide may be because they are depressed, unhappy, or have emotional burdens. The reasoning behind euthanasia is much more specific. Euthanasia may occur when one has a terminal illness, is in a vegetative state, or in unbearable pain. People with these circumstances have an extremely miserable life, and cannot be helped. That is why the choice of euthanasia exists, to relieve their suffering. If people who oppose the legalization of euthanasia were in a painful vegetative state, they would understand that it is not a suicide, but a basic human right.
Euthanasia is a basic human right because no one can make the choice of how another person should die, especially if he or she has the circumstances fit for euthanasia.
