D1 Evaluate how managing resources and controlling budget costs can improve the performance of a business.

The management and budget control can is very vital to Tesco as an organization as it enables the company to effectively carry out its day-to-day activities and failure to consider these factors can lead to customers being lost. The management of resources is as necessary resources need to be available for employees and there must also enough resources available for the employees so therefore they are able to provide good service to the customers. Within the organization there is enough staff working in Tesco meaning the task s in hand cannot be completed without these vitals resources. For instance; if a customer were to question a staff member about a particular product and the employee find out impossible to answer due to lack of resources, complaints can be sent tot the business therefore damaging the company’s reputation. This also shows the business has to its human resources carefully and these department need to ensure there are enough staff working in the organization, these staffs possess the adequate skills to carry out their roles and also whether all tasks are being completed to the best of their ability. Overall has to make sure of this as otherwise the recruitment of too many staff will cost the business to lose a lot of money and potentially hinder the company`s profits. Also if there are also less staff within the company it can mean staff could produce lower quality of service.

Avoiding this Tesco can change their staff timetable during seasonal periods. For instance during Christmas Holidays the company can recruit temporary staffs as the period of time is very busy and generates a lot of profit for the company. Tesco will need to manage the resource and control budgets as these will improve the company’s cost structure and lead to higher limit meaning the company has a control budget over its overall budget.     Tesco organisational structure is hierarchical. A hierarchical structure has many levels. Each level is controlled by one person. Hierarchical companies tend to be a very big company just like Tesco is. In a hierarchical instructions are generally passed down from one person to another until it gets to the bottom of the hierarchical structure. If there was a problem in a hierarchical structure it would move up through the structure again from one person to another until it gets to where it is supported to be.
