Introduction
In this assignment I will be explaining the process involved in recruiting planning in Tesco and British gas and explain the implications of the regulatory framework for the process of recruiting and selection in the two organisations.
Tesco is one of the most established organisations in the retail industry. Tesco has a lot of stores in the UK which ranges from local shops, super markets and Tesco extra shops which they use to provide services to their customers in the UK and other parts of the world. Tesco employ 472,000 people in the UK alone.
Tesco is based in 12 different countries which include China, Japan and Turkey and they employ people from the 12 countries they are based in. The main purpose of Tesco is to make what matters better and they also have other purposes which are to understand their customers and provide them with the best customer service they will ever experience. …show more content…
It is important for Tesco to employ the right people because if they employ someone that is not suitable for a job role within their organisation it can prevent the company from progressing as they might not know what to do and it could frustrate other members of staff in the organisation and it turn into chaos.
Also if Tesco employ the wrong person the productivity level in the organisation will drop down as the employee might not be able to provide what he/she is expected to provide.
Tesco will also have to make sure they employ the right person as it is important to recruit the right people for specific job roles within the organisation as this is because the recruitment process can be very costly and time consuming and it will be very chaotic if they are to release someone after a very short period of time and recruit a new person and it will also cost them financially as they will have incur extra money to train the staff
members.
British Gas is the UKs leading producer of energy and they also focuses on building a diverse workforce where employees can fulfil their potential and be rewarded fairly for their efforts.
British Gas is based in Britain and served over 11 million homes in the UK with energy supplies. They also deliver extra ordinary customer service to the people of Britain.
The main purpose of British Gas is to innovative products and digital platforms enable them to offer their customers convenience as well as helping them to reduce their consumption and save money on utility bills. They also have a challenge which is to “challenge in 2014, as an energy industry, is to innovate to drive growth and service excellence while continuing to work hard to win our customers’ trust. We are working with our customers to change British Gas for the better.”
British Gas on of the biggest energy suppliers in the UK and Europe and they also serve in other international countries. They also have 9000 engineers. They also provide additional maintenance in energy
It is important for British Gas to employ the right person because they are always dealing with people and it will be very important to employ the right person with good behaviour and has the specific skills and abilities to work in the organisation.
For example if British Gas employ someone who does not know how to operate on boilers the person can end up costing people’s lives as if a Gas or Boiler is not fixed properly it releases poisonous gas chemicals in the sky and it’s not good for any living entity to breath in that poisonous chemicals.
Findings
Vacancies mostly arise in Tesco because they are always creating new jobs by entering into new markets and as a result of that they will need to employ more people in order to meet the needs and expectation of their customers and competitors as a whole.
Tesco also employ new people whenever they create new roles within the organisation especially during the festive time as that is the time of the year they are mostly busy, many customers order and buy product online and in stores and for this reason vacancies arise in Tesco for the high numbers of demands.
Another reason why vacancies arise in Tesco is a member of staff might leave his/her role in the organisation and as a result of that Tesco will have to employ someone to fill the gap left within the organisation.
The most common reason why vacancies arise in Tesco is, some employees within Tesco are giving promotions to different roles and as a result of that, the role they had already is left unoccupied by no one and that makes Tesco therefore identify the job role and recruit a suitable candidate for that job role.
Vacancies occur in Tesco if a member of staff has long term sickness and they cannot work, the organisation employ some to cover them on an interim basis if it’s a member of staff on the more senior roles such as a manager or a shop manager.
British Gas on the other hand will have to employ someone if a boiler engineer decides to quit or leave his/her role and the human resources team of British Gas will have to address this by employing a suitable candidate to replace him/her.
Another way vacancies occur in British Gas is if a member of staff develop a long term sickness, due to the high volume of customer British Gas will have to employ someone to cover the role.
