Evaluating Nursing Intervention And Reflection In Action
Reflecting is the fourth phase of Tanner’s (2006) model, which involves evaluating nursing intervention and reflection in action. It is about the nurse’s ability to understand what she is doing for the patient is effective or not, how the patient is responding to that nursing intervention or is there any different way a nurse could do to have a better result. It helps to identify whether their actions are beneficial to the patient, discover where there is room for improvement and improve nurse’s ability to make clinical decision for the future. Upon evaluating on Mr. Devi’s nursing care plan and interventions, it is crucial that his problems need to address holistically, including both bio-psychosocial factors that contribute to his problem.
Further, all the decisions taken for the care of Mr. Devi were based on best available evidence. The nursing assessment strategy and diagnostic interventions were effective to identify his presenting condition. The decision-making was strength due to setting realistic goal and taking intervention with the appropriate guidance. Finally, all the assessment and clinical decision related to Mr. Devi’s care were documented accurately in the nursing record Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2008).
