Evaluating Susan's Case Of The Realm-Individual Process

Susan is a recent graduate who has begun working at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The care for patients at her clinic, like most in the medical field, is multidisciplinary. At medical facilities that employ physical therapists there are often occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapy assistants, and rehab aides that all assume roles in the care of patients. Susan is not completely familiar with these multidisciplinary roles as evident of her being uncomfortable with rehab aides assigned to patients on the “patient scheduling board” and aides providing care to patients while the supervising therapist treats another patient. To evaluate Susan’s case the Realm-Individual Process-Situation (RIPS) Model of Ethical decision-making will be utilized.
Susan is also concerned about a rehab aide performing ultrasound on a patient while the supervising physical therapist worked with another patient. Next, Susan should demonstrate the individual process of moral sensitivity, because although she has recognized an ethical situation she is not aware of the aides responsibilities interpreting it correctly.
