Evaluation of a Business Code of Ethics
Introduction Pharmanet-i3, a subsidiary of inVentive Health, is a world leading clinical research organization committed to the advancement of health around the world. The mission of Pharmanet-i3 is to be a strategic partner to companies that develop therapeutic drugs, and aim to bring drugs to the public that treat disease and improve the quality of life. The company will operate within the industry’s highest quality standards with uncompromising integrity, ethics, and respect for employees, study participants, the environment, and the communities in which the employees live and work. Shareholders can expect superior returns through the implementation of a successful growth strategy (Pharmanet-I3, n.d.). Phamanet-i3 has a goal to be a responsible corporate citizen in the global community by working toward social responsibility through behavior that provides value to clients, employees, shareholders, and the communities in which they live and work. The core values used by the company are integrity, diversity, teamwork, and open communication to help execute the mission (Pharmanet-I3, n.d.). Ethical System The ethical system used by Pharmanet-i3 is duty-driven. Duty-driven ethics focus on the values or principles of a company, such as honesty, integrity, and professionalism in the workplace (Treviño & Nelson, 2007, P. 98-99). The Code of Business Conduct and Ethics identifies the standards that apply to employees, officers, and directors of Pharmanet-i3 worldwide to ensure that actions on behalf of the company are honest, ethical, and lawful. The company also expects its consultants, suppliers, and other representatives to comply with the Code when acting on behalf of the company.
