In the short story, we see mom is one of the main characters, we also see she can be independent. She doesn’t need a man because she does everything by herself. But, she can be unfair with her daughters without her notice she is making a huge damage to them. She was so focus on giving everything to her daughters she didn't see she being unfair to her daughters. Mom always gave everything Dee wanted because Dee was more pretty, smart, and she is not scared to say what was no her mind. We also focus how people look in the outside, and we not take a chance to get to know that person. We not really that different our cultures have a lot of things in common is that fact that we don’t see. People sometimes came close minded and judge people base how they look like. Maggie never speak up and some people are like that. We can all relate to this short essay that we can see how our cultures makes us different and a like. We have to take our time see that we all share something.
Comparing with her it’s easy to explain the culture we have is inescapable. Maggie’s culture helps her get close to her sister, or just separate from her.
