Evidence Based Practices: Predisposition Report
Evidence-based practices are extremely important to me. I spend the majority of my current job as a Loss Prevention Officer finding and exhausting all the evidence I can acquire. I feel that it’s important to find evidence to back up my reports. While conducting the Predisposition Report I would be tasked with interviewing the Juvenile, which would provide their history and their side of the story. However I feel that it’s important to use EBP to do my own research of the juvenile to find and exhaust all resources to find the truth. I believe that in doing my own research and finding the truth using EPB I will be better able to provide an accurate report to the court system and references for the juvenile’s rehabilitation needs.

In the article, Back to Basics: Implementing Evidence- based Practice, the author, Lisa Spruce (2015), explains that health care is transitioning from volume based to value-based care. In order to create this value-based care, we need to put into action, evidence based practice (Spruce, 2015). Evidence based practice takes into consideration effectiveness by using research, patient preference and clinic experience, as well as cost-effectiveness (Spruce, 2015). When using this type of practice, a clinician is more likely to follow policy if they are able to understand and explain why they follow certain procedures, instead of just complying to a rule because it is a rule (Spruce, 2015).…

9.1) During my evidenced based practice assignment, I became informed of a particular participant’s current housing situation. This housing situation may severely impact his quality of life. It may impact his quality of life because he may be living in a unsatisfactory living environment. The participant used a program in the past and this program had many gaps in service. After I learned this, I collaborated with SOAR’s social worker and did research on organizations that could help this participant. Upon collaboration, she informed me that she had contacted every agency she could think of to help this participant and the ones I suggested she already talked to. 9.2) Recently, I helped SOAR acquire more funding sources for the 5k. 9.3) I have…

Evidence-based management is a method of making important decisions for your organization based on hard facts. If evidence suggests your decision can be successful you proceed, otherwise you either choose a different route or conduct research to find the evidence you want. This approach helps you not only make decisions, but also evaluate their success, as it is evidence that can prove whether you have reached a goal or not.…

In preparation for her meeting with the Unit Practice Council, Michele needs to be able to explain what evidence-based practice is and why adopting evidence-based practice will be beneficial to the unit. “Evidence-based practice is a problem-solving approach to clinical decision making within a health care organization. It integrates the best available scientific evidence with the best available experiential (patient and practitioner) evidence. EBP considers internal and external influences on practice and encourages critical thinking in the judicious application of such evidence to the care of individual patients, a patient population, or a system” (Newhouse, Dearholt, Poe, Pugh,&White,…

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a system of incorporating research findings into nursing practice so as to improve the therapeutic outcomes. (Polit, F. D & Beck, T. C, 2010). “The evidence based practice places particular emphasis on the use of evidence, in particular research findings, in clinical decision making”. (Parahoo, K, 2006). During past clinical exposures, the issues regarding post natal depression were found as a less explored one because of the complex involvement of both mental health nursing and maternal and child health nursing. “Postpartum psychosis is a manifestation of a life time vulnerability to affective disorders with child birth as the precipitating factor” (Spinelli, M. G, 2009).The focused clinical question discussed here, which is an important element in an evidence based practice is as follows; How effective is the education of nurses about postpartum depression in…

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an interdisciplinary approach to clinical practice that has been gaining ground following its formal introduction in 1992. It started in medicine as evidence-based medicine (EBM) and spread to other fields such as dentistry, nursing, psychology, education, library and information science and other fields. Its basic principles are that all practical decisions made should 1) be based on research studies and 2) that these research studies are selected and interpreted according to some specific norms characteristic for EBP. Typically such norms disregard theoretical and qualitative studies and consider quantitative studies according to a narrow set of criteria of what counts as evidence. If such a narrow set of…
