The breeding season usually lasts from august to february. Young newborn koalas only drink their mothers milk for 6 to 7 months, and stay in the mothers pouch for that time. Then at about 22 weeks its ready to come out of the pouch and open its eyes. It had a longer nose(snout) than the living koala but was only about a third of its size. Nimiokoala is represented by a well kept skull, a great discovery since koalas are rare in the fossil record. Nimiokoala would have fed on the leaves of forest trees although it isn’t known whether it specialized on the leaves of eucalypts, as the living koala does. Nimiokoalas are most closely related to a second species of koalas,also named the nimiokoala, also known as
