To begin with, indirect characterization is your point of view of the character. How they speak, look, think, their effects, and actions. For instance, the character Mr. Nuttel from “The Open Window” it explains, “Privately he doubted more than ever whether these formal visits on a succession of total strangers would do much towards helping the nerve cure which he was supposed to be undergoing.” Mr. Nuttel has doubts about going to the retreat because he can’t have any stress at all, as an effect of his anxiety.
